To Our Friends in the Bookish Community
For a variety of reasons large and small, Quartet Press has decided to discontinue operations. Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, a hard-working team, and the support of the community, things just don’t work out. This is one of those times. It’s disappointing to all of us, but it’s reality and we will all move on.
We are truly grateful to all of you who have wished us well.Your support and enthusiasm for our venture was humbling, and we hope you will not see our company’s disbanding as an indication that any of us doubt the viability of digital publishing. Far to the contrary — if nothing else, we have learned that the future of digital publishing, while overwhelmingly complex, will be bright indeed, and we will each be working toward that bright future via our individual efforts.

so so sad. good luck to each of you x
I’m really sorry to hear that, Kat. See you soon, I hope.
I’m truly sorry to hear this news, Kat. It was an exciting and audacious start for any new independent press, just sad, for whatever reasons it didn’t work out.
New ventures await. Good luck.
This is such a shame. I know you have your reasons, but it really is hard to take. I was looking forward to what Quartet had on offer.
I wish all of you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
Really sorry to read this unfortunate news. I wish you all the best.
Not happy.
Oh, no. Very sad.
Good luck to all.
Wow. You guys were doing some great work. I’m so sorry to hear that it hasn’t worked out. Wow.
Well, poot.
Best of luck to you all. You’re all cool people.
I am so sorry to hear this, but I know the heads that could come up with Quartet will come up, singly or otherwise, with more amazing stuff in the future.
Kat (and team), I’m very sorry to hear this. I trust you will all resurface with equally interesting and important digital publishing projects. Until then, rest assured you all made a positive impact on the future of digital publishing with your work to date. Wishing each of you all the best.
I am dismayed and disappointed by this news!
I hope all of you find new projects to keep you busy soon.
Wishing you all the best!
Eoin
Sorry to hear this. Good luck with whatever adventures come next.
OMG
I’m so sorry to hear this. I was looking forward to what this Epress would do.
So sorry but I have faith that each one of you alone or together will be on the front lines of change.
Oh Sadness! I was looking forward to seeing where you pioneers would lead us. Good luck on the next one!
Kat, this makes me so sad. With Quartet, it seemed like “the good guys” were going to win one.
You can’t leave us hanging. What the F#$% happened?
Anything other independents or other publishers interested in an ebook strategy can learn from you?
I’m sorry to hear of your decision, but knowing that it was not made lightly, I will respect it and simply wish each of you success in your future endeavors. Cream really does rise to the top, so I’m sure each of you will find a fulfilling career in the years ahead, no matter the venue. Best wishes always
Does this mean you are or are not going to hire my wife as your editor. She just sent you her resume via email last night. *Good Grief*
I wish you all well in your endeavors. I will definitely track each of you down and support whatever it is that you be do in the future.
Oh, no. I’m really sorry to hear that. Good luck for whatever you all choose to do in the future.
Good people never get knocked down for long. Once you all get a breath, I’m sure we’ll hear (and look forward to hearing) about your next adventure.
what was it in the Rocky Balboa movie, winning is getting knocked down 7 times, getting up 8?
Really sorry and sad to hear that.
Hoping all of you find new projects soon!
best whishes

This is heartbreaking news but, seriously, in the current climate please don’t beat yourselves up over it. It was an amazingly bold move and you were very brave to take it. You accomplished so much on the journey and gave us all so much to think about. Thank you for loving books so much and for having such respect for writers. Please stay in touch.

So so sorry to hear this news – it certainly looked like the QP team was onto something good. I’m going to be watching with anticipation to see what comes next.
So sorry to hear this. I admire every member of the team and was hoping for great successes.
Blessings to all of you.
Dear Kat, et al.: I’m truly sorry to hear the news, and I wish you all the best of luck with future bold, bookish endeavors.
It’s been a rough year for publishers and bookstores alike, and always sad to see another one go down. Good luck with your future ventures.
Sad to hear it! We still look forward to working with you all in future digital publishing projects…
Sorry to hear it. Good luck to all!
I commend you for trying something new in an era where traditional publishing has imploded (thanks to new technologies) and fresh approaches are required.
I still believe your model can work, perhaps in different circumstances, with a few “name” authors breaking away from the mainstream (a la Trent Reznor in music) and lending their credibility and appeal to such an imprint.
Someone is going to try something similar very soon. And next time, it’s going to pay off, big time…
Good luck in the future to all of you. Sorry this had to happen.
Hey mate, that’s tough indeed. I really admire the work you were doing and will continue to do. Sorry this one didn’t work out, but I look forward to your next project which I just know will be amazing and innovative. Best wishes! Kate.
Very sad, indeed.
I hope that something can come out of this that will help others further along the path.
Congratulations on a great idea and on creating a genuine enthusiasm and optimism.
Good luck to everyone involved.
Kat (and team) – so sorry to hear this news as our industry needs adventurous souls who can look at things “differently”
I look forward to seeing what you do next, as I am sure it will be good.
Warm good wishes
